His arrests have been for things like shoplifting $40 worth of merchandise from Wal-Mart, possession of a small amount of marijuana, battery against a club bouncer, trespassing and the only significant one, possession of firearms and ammunition (which was downgraded).
He has a child now. His high school coach talks glowingly about his new maturity...as does his juco coach.
He may not make it. He will ALWAYS be tarred with his past, even if he succeeds. Redemption is a great story, but it always starts with the fall from grace.
Caron Butler was arrested 15 times before he turned 16. He spent nine months in jail for crack dealing. The guy who ran his crack dealing ring paid his way to prep school in Maine...$5,000.
