Strengths: Hill has most of the physical tools to be a quality defender on the next level with his quick hands, anticipation, and long arms … Moves well without the ball in his hands … Has shown the ability to shoot the three point shot off the dribble or when his feet set with some bit of success … Aggressive mindset allows him to initiate contact on drives to the basket to draw fouls … A quality free throw shooter … Possesses the feel for the game that you can not teach … This court awareness enables him to play with poise and confidence … Possesses the deceptive 1st step to get initial separation from his defender … Above average ball handler who could play the point guard position in spot minutes … Plays with a calm demeanor and is rarely out of control … Hustler who does a great job rebounding the ball … Despite being a scorer, Hill has the unselfish quality of looking for teammates … Plays bigger than his height due to his extremely long arms … This is one of the reasons he can convert in traffic despite his average athleticism … Understands how to utilize screens to get open for catch and shoot opportunities … Plays within himself and never tries to exceed his limitations … His college coach labeled him a hard worker with a great work ethic ...
Weaknesses: An average athlete with average size for a two guard, which could prevent him from being able to play the shooting guard position … To compound issues most scouts view him as a tweener stuck between both guard positions … While he has decent size for a point, he lacks the experience, decision making and court vision … Shooting off the dribble from the perimeter can go through periods of inconsistency … One of those players who has a wide arrange of skills, but doesn't standout in any one area … Defensively, Hill could stand to improve his lateral quickness, although his basketball IQ helps compensate for much of this on the collegiate level … Aggressiveness can cause him to pick up quick fouls … Hill is prone to turning the ball over when he over thinks the game and forces passes … Lacks the explosiveness to get full separation from his defender - opposing defenders will often ride his hip or back to the basket … Upside isn’t all that great - although any 22 year old will make improvements his athleticism and overall skill set may limit how much he can improve on … Could stand to add 5-10 more pounds of weight to his physique … Durability could be a issue as Hill broke his right foot last year and played this season with a metal pin holding his surgically repaired foot … Good feet are a premium in basketball and while this season he has not shown to be favoring his feet, it should still be an area of concern …
