What's up with Catfish? E-mail

ImageJimmy “Catfish” Adams is still stirring up controversy. We first reported on his legal battle with the NBA in our August 2007 article, Man Challenges NBA, Heads to Court. Catfish’s fight against the league was an uphill battle from the start, but now he’s on the wrong side of the law.

So what’s up with Catfish and why is he wielding a gun?

The NBA had an easy victory over Catfish after he was a no show for his October 15th court date to present evidence of "athletic discrimination" that he hoped would force the league to open up a spot for him with an NBA team.

Unfortunately, Catfish was arrested at his Tennessee home the evening before the case after an alleged domestic dispute erupted between him and his would-be paralegal cousin, Patty Sue Adams, who had been providing legal advice. Patty Sue claims that Catfish pistol-whipped her after she remarked that his plight against the NBA was a frivolous waste of her time.

“All that preparing for the case took away from my country line dancing nights down at the tavern,” Patty Sue told The Draft Review. “I met a nice man down there who runs a chicken farm a few miles down the road, but I got so darn wrapped up in Catfish’s mess that the man done took an interest in Norma Jean - she’s my half sister on my daddy’s side. Now I ain’t got no man, thanks to Catfish.”

Facing charges of assault and illegal possession of a firearm, Catfish called us collect from the county jail to tell his side of the story.

“I’m innocent,” said an emotional Catfish. “Patty Sue brought that gun home ranting about how she was mad at the chicken farmer and Norma Jean for sneaking behind her back and hooking up. Yeah, I held the gun and we argued, but I’d never lay a hand on a woman. I’ve been railroaded by Patty Sue, and now my NBA dream is up in smoke.”

Catfish held back tears as he spoke…then the phone call was cut off.

The Draft Review will continue to follow Catfish as he attempts to clear his name and claim his NBA dream.
