Really Stupid Basketball Joke

Why did Mookie Blaylock give the ref $2 at the foul line?

Because he didn't know it was a free throw.

Basketball in the News

Rookie refs take long, hard road ... 11 year-old player embarrassed when mom and dad have physical altercation during game ... Baltimore area coach orders players to protest refs by standing still on the court ... Was it racism or poor sportsmanship at a high school game in Connecticut?

TDR Behind the Scenes

In the course of his research, Matthew Maurer has encountered more than 15 schools whose historic basketball records (such as media guides and player statistics) were destroyed by flood or fire. Many of the lost records date back to the pre-1950s. In the 1980s, one HBCU's entire sports history was completely wiped out.

It took Matthew close to 10 years of research to acquire collegiate stats for Zelmo Beaty. Beaty's original records at Prairie View A&M were destroyed by flood.

Get more TDR behind the scenes in our upcoming feature, Research Chronicles.
