Background: As the cousin of former South Carolina Gamecock and All-SEC player, Carlos Powell, Muldrow has always had an affinity for the program. It came as no surprise when the rising big man committed immediately after former South Carolina Head Coach, Dave Odom, made the offer. Citing the school’s location and his friendships within the program that developed over the years, Muldrow was an easy recruit. Yet shockingly, most recruiting gurus slept on Muldrow nationally, often listing him as a three star top 150 recruit.

As a senior at Wilson high school Muldrow averaged 19 points, 13 rebounds and 4 blocks per game while earning various South Carolina Player of the Year honors through multiple media outlets. Muldrow’s progress was slow at times in his first two years on the program with academic issues and his proneness to fouls keeping him off the court. Yet Muldrow took huge strides last year by keeping his aggressiveness in check and displaying his shot blocking ability, and fluidity to run the floor. His play earned him SEC All-Defensive Team honors as he blocked 97 shots, which was good enough to finish second in the SEC and 10th nationally.

There have been some rumors that the South Carolina coaching staff is entertaining the idea of Muldrow redshirting this season. Athletically, Muldrow has all the physical tools that NBA teams love, but he will need to improve offensively and continue to develop his upper body strength.
