Background: As the son of former international player, Ljubisav Lukovic, Uros found himself around the game of basketball from an early age. Due to his father job, Uros’ path in international basketball did not follow the usual course.
In 2006 his family decided it would be best for Uros to head to America to play basketball at St. Mary’s in Arizona. While Uros's location seemed perfect, his father, who is currently an international scout for the Phoenix Suns, thought his son was making the best move for his to play basketball collegiately.
Everything was set for Uros to start high school, but homesickness got the best of him. Less than a month later he was back overseas. Upon returning to Serbia, Uros played for Torlac, a lower division team, before joining FMP Zeleznik. FMP saw potential in the bigman with soft touch and gave him a four year contract. After two years of minor development Lukovic was loaned to Radnicki Basket. This move saw him have a breakout year which proceeded with him averaging 8.8 points and 5.7 rebounds per game. This past season he declared for the NBA draft, but quickly withdrew when it became evident that he would not be selected.
