Strengths: Hunter is a great athlete with quickness and leaping ability … Thanks to his length, he could add a good amount of weight to his body without sacrificing athleticism … Despite his average size as a power forward, his long arms allow him to play bigger than he is … Understands the value of keeping the ball high in the paint … This really helps him on put-backs, as defenders don’t get much recovery time to defend … From a mobility standpoint, Hunter runs the floor extremely well … Defensively, he provides a solid shot blocking presence with his wingspan and quickness … A great help defender, as his lateral movement enables him to rotate over … Active guy who plays the game with great energy … Understands what his strengths are on the court and rarely exceeds them … Has shown the ability to hit the 16 foot jumper from mid-range in spot up opportunities … Solid out of position rebounder thanks to his length and athleticism … Owns a good pair of strong hands capable of holding rebounds without getting them stripped by opposing defenders … A good finisher around the basket where his leaping ability allows him to finish with some flair … Hustler who has no problem doing the dirty work … It's been reported that Hunter has only played organized ball since his senior year of high school, so he has plenty of room for growth and doesn’t have a lot of bad habits that could hold him back …
Weaknesses: Offensively, he still has a ways to go before his back to the basket skills are fully developed … Doesn’t have soft touch around the basket, nor does he have the softest hands - it’s not uncommon for him to bobble passes from time to time … Lack of body strength prevents him from being able to establish position consistently without getting pushed off … Because of this, Hunter tends to get lost where he is in relation to the basket, which often results in him overshooting the ball … Poor free throw shooter … Not the best rebounder in position as he is prone to getting boxed out, but to his credit he is improving … Feel for the game is questionable, although he began show quality signs of improvement during the course of the season … While not a terrible post passer his court vision limits him from being able to see the floor well … Post footwork is choppy and remains a work in progress as he lacks balance at times when executing his moves … Lack of upper body strength prevents him from finishing after contact occurs … To compound matters, Hunter’s lack of aggressiveness prevents him from creating fouls on opposing defenders … When defending in the post he struggles to match the physicality of opposing defenders … Some of this will clearly be alleviated with more game experience … Timing when blocking shots is off as he is prone to biting on fakes … Will be a project for the team that drafts him …
