2002 Scouting Report:

Strengths: The main thing that jumps out about Wilcox is his explosive leaping ability … If he gets the ball anywhere in the paint he is a threat to finish with a thundering dunk … At this point his post skills mainly consist of a quick spin move and a short turnaround hook shot which he can make on either side of the post … Good shot blocker who has the ability to get even better thanks to his timing, long arms, and explosive hops … Runs down the court like a gazelle and can finish in transition with a exciting dunk … Attacks the glass when rebounding and has the athleticism to grab boards out of his position … Owns a excellent pair of soft hands which rarely bobble passes when receiving the ball in the post … Will be a highly sought after commodity as he has loads of untapped potential and explosive athleticism … Great interior passer who has some solid court vision … Does a great job of keeping the ball up high on put-backs …

Weakness: Offensively Wilcox is still pretty raw in that he lacks an assortment of post moves … From a fundamental standpoint he is still learning the little things of the game … Like many young players he is in need of developing better consistency on a night in night out basis … Has a bad habit of playing overaggressive on defense which can lead him to pick up quick fouls … Perimeter defense isn’t all that great as some players can beat him off the dribble … Upper body strength is still not up to NBA standards which is one of the reasons why he could struggle early when guarding stronger post players … Ball handling is a area of concern often Wilcox would just catch and dunk the ball in the NBA these opportunities won’t be as easy … While he has shown the ability to hit the perimeter jumper from 15 feet rarely has he shot it with regularity so gaining confidence and consistency from the perimeter would be of great benefit … Though he has shown the ability to draw fouls in the lane his poor free throw shooting rarely allows him to take full advantage of the opportunity …
