2003 Scouting Report:

Strengths: Above average athlete ... Possess a quick first step to gain separation from his defender... Like most great slashers Emmett owns great leaping ability and tremendous body control to make acrobatic lay-ups ... Does a great job of playing the passing lanes for easy steals ... Has a NBA ready body capable of taking the physical rigors of the NBA ... Uses a nice assortment of body fakes and spins when posting up his defender... Moves exceptionally well without the ball as he is constantly cutting and moving ... For his size he is a excellent rebounder... Shows solid finishing ability when running in transition ... Can be a explosive scorer when his outside jumper is failing ... Has shown the work ethic to improve on his potential... His upper body strength allows him to finish after contact... Despite being physically outmatched Emmett does a excellent job of converting very difficult shots in the lane ... Not a bad shooter when running off screens ... Shows a nice crossover move that he uses to take his defender baseline ...

Weakness: Although a wonderful athlete Emmett does noy have the fundamentals of the game down ... Needs to improve on his ball protection as he has a habit of getting careless with the ball... Not a very good shooter from behind the 3-point line despite opposing defense laying off him from there ... Doesn't put forth full effort or great intensity when playing perimeter defense ... There have been some questions surrounding his maturity and overall leadership skills this past season ... Can at times get out of control when he penetrates in the lane ... Ball handling will have to improve if he is to play the shooting guard position in the NBA ... Will struggle to generate offense as he has made a living of playing in or around 15 feet from the basket... Needs to work on going left as of right now he fully concentrates on going right... Will need to improve on creating for himself more instead of relying on screens and picks to get off... Can at times force shots when the defense collapses on him ... Despite his inside game he doesn't do a great job of drawing fouls from the opposing defense...
