Background: Gary McGhee - Growing up in the talent rich state of Indiana, McGhee struggled to stand out in the early part of his development. But thanks to the help of his father, Gary Sr., a former track and field athlete for Indiana University, things began to turn around.

At the end of his sophomore year, McGhee began to show promise by impressing many with his play at the Nike All-American camp. The offers soon began to pour in as DePaul, Indiana, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Wisconsin and Pittsburgh were among the schools battling for his services. Yet McGhee practically quadrupled his minutes last season while leading Pittsburgh in field goal percentage, rebounding and blocked shots. McGhee remains a raw prospect, but because of the thin talent at the center position, he still has many positives.
