2007 Pre-Draft Scouting Report by Matthew Maurer

Assets
In his first full year running the point he has done a decent job … Above average court vision, his size enables him to see the floor well … Solid free throw shooter … Defensively his long arms, quick hands and lateral quickness enable him to be a quality perimeter defender … Owns a nice first step that he uses to gain separation from his defender … Ball handling is quite advanced where he loves to set-up his defender with a crossover dribble … Clutch player who will rise to the occasion … Once in the lane Pruitt is capable of making acrobatic finishes with his body control and solid athleticism … Will dribble hard and then pull up 16 feet from the basket from mid-range … Has three point range on his shot … Underrated at playing the passing lanes thanks to his length … Leadership qualities really came into the spotlight this past season … Unselfish mentality to try and create for teammates … Has shown the ability to run the half court offense with few mistakes …

Liabilities

While he has size he lacks body strength and would benefit from an increase … Although improving, Pruitt isn't a pure point guard, more of a combo … Defensively he doesn't move his feet as well as he should, has a tendency to reach instead of moving his feet … Court decisions can be questionable, only average court awareness … Hasn't learned how to control the tempo and consistently create for his teammates … Perimeter shooting can go through periods of inconsistency … Some question his mental toughness as he can get off track when things aren't going his way offensively … Settles at times for the perimeter jumper instead of driving to the basket to create contact … Can play out of control on his drives … There have been questions surrounding his work ethic …
