sean-singletary-1.jpg The Draft Review - The Draft Review sacramento The Draft Review - The Draft Review

Strengths: Tremendous shooter off the dribble from mid-range or the three point shot … Demonstrates maturity and leadership qualities, which weren't apparent as a junior … Savvy player who has a great feel for the game … Quality passer in transition where he shows decent court vision in recognizing where teammates are on the floor … Singletary is a great ball handler, which enables him to do a great job of breaking defensive presses geared to slow him down … Owns a solid first step and change of speed dribble that he uses to gain separation from his defender … Defensively, he has the physical tools of quick hands and great lateral movement … Excels in the open court where his speed and creativity are given the space to work … Does a great job of being aggressive in order to draw fouls from opposing defenders … Once at the free throw line he is an excellent shooter … Clutch player who wants the ball in his hands in critical moments … Gets a good deal of his assists from dishing out to open teammates when he drives to the basket … Approaches the game with toughness as he will play through injuries … Creative scorer who will use a number of hesitations, pump fakes and step-backs to create scoring opportunities for himself on the perimeter … A great deal of this is possible despite his average height because of Singletary’s quick release, which needs little time … Extremely confident in his ability … A gym rat who is reported to own a good work ethic …

Weaknesses: Singletary lacks the ideal stature that NBA teams covet - standing at 5-11 to 6-0 there will be match-up concerns against the NBA’s bigger point guards … Can get a little too carried away and single minded in scoring instead of involving teammates, but to his credit this issue has somewhat improved this year … Shot selection is a work in progress … Has a tendency to go for the spectacular pass, which accounts for some of his turnovers … Lacks several point guard qualities that are a staple for point guards on the next level, such as decision making, playing controlled and, most importantly, making those around you better … Defensively, he remains too concerned reaching for steals instead of staying in front of his man … Mindset on defense could have something to do with this as he approaches defense as a chore and not a challenge … With his build and aggressive playing style durability could be a concern … Has problems running a half court offense efficiently and struggles to score as smoothly … Perimeter shooting from mid-range can go through periods of inconsistency … Lacks the long arms and body length to finish in traffic when driving to the basket … Could be a post-up target for bigger point guards … Is viewed by some scouts as a player that will need to be in the right system in order to be effective in the NBA …

best case scenario for Singletary is that he turns into a poor man's Gilbert Arenas... worst case is he becomes a garbage PG that ends up playing in a Euro league... this huge discrepancy in what he can become is why he will be drafted with a mid second round pick by a team like Golden State a little while after DeMarcus Nelson gets picked... i personally believe that he will end up showing the skills of a 20th pick or so throughout his career and will be considered a good pick... Great player, terrible size, bad shot selection, great court vision... I think that if i were going to rate the players in the ACC in terms of skill that they have RIGHT NOW... i would put Singletary second right after Tyler Hansborough (who has absolutely no pro potential)... I wish Singletary the best of luck tho cuz he was easily one of my favorite college players to watch

He will go early in 2nd round simply because of his height and volumes of poor shot selection. Thats too be expected but best believe he will demonstrate first round talent when given a chance to play. He shot alot because he had no one else his senior year. He came back so he could work on his defense and outside shooting and passing and has improved on it all no matter what the stats show. He is a huge sleeper that will make an impact in NBA in the next 3 years. Id say Sacramento will scoop him up.

sean is a top 20 pick!!! His teammates at uva his entire career were sub par. He has excelled every year and playing in a stacked conference isn't easy, especially when your the only threat on your team. Sean show them what your made of!!!!!!!

What have you been smoking Chris Paul no way he's not even a top 5 pro prospect in his own conference of the ACC. Look at that scouting report up there. If you don't see his issues then I don't know what to tell you. Great scouting report Matt as usual keep up the hard work man.

Sean Singletary is the most underated player in college basketball. He is an outstanding athlete with amazing potential. He maybe small, but plays with a heart as large as any big man. Sean should definetley go in the top twenty in the NBA draft. There's no doubt in my mind. He has played threw sickness! I mean throwing up sick, and he still played with the skill of an amazing basketball player. That shows you his passion for the game. Sean is the next Chris Paul, and don't try to object. If this young man doesn't get drafted in the first round well then shame on you all! A top prospect i should expect. Sean Singletary, number 44, NBA all-star. I can see it now. Way to go man!
