2007 Pre-Draft Scouting Report by Matthew Maurer

Assets
Possesses premium height for the NBA point guard position … Crittenton shows good athleticism and body strength … Tremendous ball handler who uses a wide assortment of fakes, hesitations, stutters and crossovers to get past most defenders … Couple that with his solidly quick first step and it's easy to see why most defenders often struggle to stay in front of him … Once in the lane his body control and unique ability to use the glass allow him to convert difficult finishes … Possesses that rare feel for the game to make things happen … Has really improved shooting from mid-range off the dribble … Creative passer whose court vision enables him to make exciting plays … Has all the tools needed to be a solid defender with quick hands, solid lateral movement and long arms … Anticipation skills improved this season as he did a solid job disrupting the passing lanes ... Highly competitive player that will not back down from anyone … Approaches the game with a great attitude and is very coachable … Has the biggest upside of any point guard in the country …

Liabilities
Can get out of control on his drives to the basket … Defensively, Crittenton tends to gamble on steals too much instead of moving his feet … Perimeter shooting can go through periods of extreme hot/cold streaks …Still learning how to create for teammates on a consistent basis … Has yet to fully master controlling the tempo when running an offense … Can at times get too caught up going for the flashy play instead of keeping it simple … Decision making leaves something to be desired, but to his credit has improved during the season … Shot selection is below average as he tends to get frustrated and force shots that aren't there … Can panic when tight defensive pressure is applied instead of remaining calm and thinking of how to handle the situation … Doesn't operate a half court set effectively which is a must for NBA point guards …
