2007 Pre-Draft Scouting Report by Matthew Maurer

Assets
Athletically, Chandler is a solid athlete with good length … Physically he is blessed with a NBA ready body and good strength … Decent rebounder overall thanks to his strength and athleticism … Has improved greatly shooting from the perimeter where he can shoot 16-18 feet from mid-range … Great finisher in transition where he has the ability to create with flair … Does a great job using his strength and body control to finish after absorbing contact when driving to the basket … Runs the floor with ease … Potentially, Chandler is blessed with great upside and long term growth … Quality shot blocker as a help defender … Is slowly learning how to become more effective creating off the dribble … Starting out as a power forward, Chandler’s progression to becoming a small forward is very impressive … Has developed the court savvy to take advantage of mismatches and use his post-up game to score over smaller forwards … Plays with confidence in that he never appears unsure of his ability to play … Has legit NBA size and athleticism that are vital at the small forward spot on the pro level …

Liabilities
Doesn’t always play the game with great intensity and can appear passive … Lacks the body control to absorb contact and finish … Decision making is questionable … Can get too wild and force the action instead of letting the game come to him … Despite his size he is not a great player when his back is to the basket … Can get out of control when driving to the lane … Must continue to develop more consistency with his shooting from the perimeter … Still learning how to fully create offense for himself off the dribble where his ball handling remains shaky at best … Work ethic and motivation leave a lot to be desired … Three point shooting is still not something that he can convert with regularity … Does a very poor job of drawing fouls from opposing defender … Free throw shooting is below average … Settles too much for the perimeter jumper instead of driving to the basket… Shows decent quickness but doesn’t have the explosive first step to gain full separation as defensive players will often ride his hip into the lane … Defensively he struggles to be effective when guarding athletic forwards on the perimeter …
