2007 Pre-Draft Scouting Report by Matthew Maurer
Assets
Combo guard who has some ability to play both guard positions … Athletically solid with above average upper body strength … Excels in 1-1 situations where he creativity and savvy make him tough to defend … Improved ball handler who is starting to develop point guard skills … Owns a solid pull-up jumper from mid-range … Has competent court vision to see the floor and recognize open teammates … Plays the game with great confidence, never seems rattled …Has worked very well running off screens to get open … Solid three point shooter when his feet are set … Does a great job of using his body to absorb contact and finish … Excels setting up teammates off drive and dish opportunities … Defensively, Stuckey plays the passing lanes well because of his anticipation skills … Possesses a quality basketball IQ … Despite being an explosive scorer he shows a willingness to crash the glass for rebounds … Understands how to incorporate fakes and hesitation moves to make up for his average first step … Because of this he really puts pressure on the defense to recover, which enables him to draw fouls … Excellent free throw shooter … Still has a good amount of potential left to develop despite being such an accomplished collegiate player …

Defensively he exhibits little energy or intensity … Can get single minded offensively, settling for three point shots instead of driving to the basket … At 6-4 Stuckey is a bit on the small side for a NBA shooting guard … To compound this issue he is a solid, but not mind blowing athlete …Lacks the devastating first step to gain full separation from his defender … It’s not uncommon to see his defender riding his hip into the lane … Will at times force passes into traffic ... Despite having decent range on his jump shot his consistency leaves a lot to be desired … Might be perceived but some NBA GMs as a tweener, too short to play shooting guard and too inexperienced too play point … Level of competition is questionable as the Big Sky Conference isn’t filled with NBA prospects …But to his credit his performances have been solid against higher level collegiate teams … While improved, Stuckey isn’t really great at running an offense or getting teammates involved …
