Strengths: Physically, he has added a decent amount of strength while maintaining his overall athleticism … Has stopped settling for the perimeter shot - utilizes a pump fake then drives to the basket … Even more important is that he hasn’t been as shy when physical contact occurs; this is the reason he’s getting to the free throw line more this year … Kemp can absorb contact when driving to the basket and finish with some amount of success … Has three point range when his feet are set and has shown some improvement off the dribble … Although not spectacular, he has shown some ability to take a couple of dribbles and pull-up from mid-range … Solid free throw shooter … Works extremely well shooting off screens 18 feet from mid-range … Greatly improved rebounding the ball this year thanks to his improved physique and use of his long arms … Plays the game with good poise and maturity … Is developing into a more consistent player who is capable of putting up a decent amount of points nightly … Has a gunner mentality with the confidence to keep shooting no matter how his performance has fared … Is showing much more patience offensively playing within himself and not trying to exceed his role …
Weakness: Perimeter shooting can be prone to streakiness at times … Not great creating offense off the dribble … This could be due to his lack of explosiveness off his first step and average ball handling … Doesn’t always play defense with great intensity … Shot selection leaves a little to be desired as he can go through stretches of forcing shots in key moments … Kemp doesn’t have a great feel for the game despite his time in school … From a potential standpoint, he doesn’t have much more room for growth as a six year player … Durability is a major cause for concern as he’s suffered a number of injuries early on in his career … Prone to mental breakdowns in crucial times during games … Has a habit of standing around on offense instead of moving around to get open … Lacks the mentality or vision to be a good passer … Has a tendency to struggle when defending athletic guards because of his average lateral quickness … Needs to take care of the ball better as he is very turnover prone …
