nba Kresimir Loncar 2003 Underclassmen - The Draft Review

2003 Scouting Report:

Strengths: For a player his size he has decent fluidity and coordinaion in his movement... Has a strong grasp of the fundamentals and unlike many young players, he possess a great understanding of the game ... Due to his long arms he is a very capable rebounder despite often being physically outmatched ... Possesses an extremely versatile offensive game due to his wide variety of moves such as fakes and drop steps he uses to confuse defenders ... Has good range on his jumper and even shows some ability to hit the 3-point shot... Can hit the jumper consistently from 12-14 feet... Possess all the physical tools to be a quality back to the basket player such as good hands and great post footwork... Is a hard player to double team as he possess above average court vision that enables him to see the floor and deliver quick passes ...

Weakness: Loncar must improve on his back to the basket skills. As of now, he prefers to face the basket when guarded by a physical defender... Upper body strength must be addressed as he struggles to hold his position on the blocks. This would also help him become a better finisher... Athletically he does not possess tremendous leaping ability nor blinding speed ... Work ethic is considered by many to be a weak point and some have even hinted that he isn't very coachable, so he must focus on his approach to the game ... While he is a descent rebounder, he's doesn't crash the glass with much force ... Needs to improve on taking opponents off the dribble as he prefers to get the ball and take one or two dribbles and shoot... Defensively he is still learning how to guard more physical opponents, and his defensive footwork is hampered by his average lateral quickness ... Shooting off the dribble isn't as consistent as it will need to be once he gets to the NBA ...
