Poo is one of the most inderrated basketball players in Houston Cougars history. Scored 30-plus points in a NCAA Tournament game against Notre Dame and directed UH's thrilling win over top-ranked Jacksonville and Artis Gilmore.
The early 1970s UH teams with Welch and Double D - Dwight Davis and Dwight Jones - are overlooked when compared to the Elvin Hayes-Don Chaney teams of the late 1960s and Phi Slama Jama teams of the early-to-mid 1980s with Olajuwon and Drexler.
