I agree with your statement, but there is no way that Carr would have stayed at Notre Dame the full four years if freshman had been eligible back then. After he scored the 61 points against Ohio University in 1970 NCAA Tournamemt, the NBA would have told him that he has nothing to prove.

One of the best ever. Smooth as silk and a deadly shooter. Probably would have averaged 50 points a game if they had the 3 point shot in his day. His ND all-time record of 2560 points is likely to fall this year to Luke Harangody who is closing in. Luke is a fine player but it will take him 130 games played to catch Carr. I never did understand the freshman ineligibilty rule back in the 50's and 60's.
