He was the only player in CIF history to win MVP in a championship game playing for the losing team (heartbreaker). I was up in Fairbanks AK doing training as a USAF PJ, and I was in the USO waiting for a flight. On the TV was a UCLA game, and who was putting up jumpers but Tony Anderson! Man, if they had three pointers back then he would have been a first round pick in the NBA. Sweet stroke, great athleticism, smart ...
At GAFB we were all Wooden & UCLA fans. We only cried twice in 12 years! For him to go there was every kids dream.
I feel bad on one hand because Coach Wooden retired before Tony got to play for the Legend of all time. On the other hand, he gutted it out through coaching changes, new coaches who brought in their own guys, and still experienced an awesome experience that did lead him to the Pro level.
Much Love Tony!
