2003 Scouting Report:
Strengths: At this stage in his development he is a defensive minded center who looks to rebound and block shots when he's in the game ... Has all the physical tools that great shot blockers have: lateral quickness, leaping ability, long arms, and good timing ... Thanks to his above average athleticism he can keep up with most players as he is an extremely mobile player who can run the floor... Attacks the glass for rebounds by using his body to gain position and using his long arms ... Due to his great offensive rebounding ability, he generates the majority of his points on other player's misses by put-backs or dunks ... Has loads of potential which adds to his stock as he has only played organized ball for a limited period of time ... Scoring isn't a big thing to him as he can make a impact in a game with his shot blocking ... What's even more impressive is the amount of shots he redirects ... Has an NBA ready body which could still fit 10-20 pounds of muscle without effecting his mobility...
Weakness: Still learning the fundamentals ... Defensively he often finds himself in foul trouble as he can be over-aggressive ... Post footwork remains unrefined although this is to be expected when you consider he has only played organized ball for 4 years ... Offensively his game is basic and not very diverse so adding some variety to his low post repertoire such as up and under's, hook shot, and a drop step would help considerably ... Although he has the ability to absorb contact in the paint and draw fouls he doesn't take full advantage of his opportunities due to his poor free throw shooting ... Possess average touch around the basket and lacks range on his jumper away from the basket... Is very susceptible to double teams doesn't pass out of them well and doesn't recognize them quick enough ... Must become better disciplined as with most great shot blockers Okafor has a bad habit of trying to go after every shot... The team who drafts Okafor must realize that he is a project first and not to expect any quick returns ...

Strengths: Physically, he has added a decent amount of strength while maintaining his overall athleticism … Has stopped settling for the perimeter shot - utilizes a pump fake then drives to the basket … Even more important is that he hasn’t been as shy when physical contact occurs; this is the reason he’s getting to the free throw line more this year … Kemp can absorb contact when driving to the basket and finish with some amount of success … Has three point range when his feet are set and has shown some improvement off the dribble … Although not spectacular, he has shown some ability to take a couple of dribbles and pull-up from mid-range … Solid free throw shooter … Works extremely well shooting off screens 18 feet from mid-range … Greatly improved rebounding the ball this year thanks to his improved physique and use of his long arms … Plays the game with good poise and maturity … Is developing into a more consistent player who is capable of putting up a decent amount of points nightly … Has a gunner mentality with the confidence to keep shooting no matter how his performance has fared … Is showing much more patience offensively playing within himself and not trying to exceed his role …
Weakness: Perimeter shooting can be prone to streakiness at times … Not great creating offense off the dribble … This could be due to his lack of explosiveness off his first step and average ball handling … Doesn’t always play defense with great intensity … Shot selection leaves a little to be desired as he can go through stretches of forcing shots in key moments … Kemp doesn’t have a great feel for the game despite his time in school … From a potential standpoint, he doesn’t have much more room for growth as a six year player … Durability is a major cause for concern as he’s suffered a number of injuries early on in his career … Prone to mental breakdowns in crucial times during games … Has a habit of standing around on offense instead of moving around to get open … Lacks the mentality or vision to be a good passer … Has a tendency to struggle when defending athletic guards because of his average lateral quickness … Needs to take care of the ball better as he is very turnover prone …

Strengths: Has become much more committed to his body off the court this year with his conditioning … The benefits of this have been the improvement of his overall mobility and quickness … Is now a better runner of the floor, although not a speedster … Uses his size to his advantage well when rebounding in his area … Possesses soft hands, rarely bobbles passes thrown into him … A great post passer with sold court vision … Becoming much more accomplished playing in the high post facing the basket where shooting and passing are a must … Has the ball handling ability capable of taking slow centers to the basket … Displays great touch around the basket on lay-ins and put-backs … Has shown some ability to shoot 16 feet from the basket, plus the knack for converting the occasional three point shot … Sheer size and wingspan allow him to clog up the paint effectively … Daniels is an unselfish player who consistently looks to pass to open teammates (but almost to a fault) … Does a decent job of keeping his body between his man and the basket when defending in the post … When Daniels plays with confidence he can be very effective … Solid free throw shooter … Stamina has improved by leaps and bounds from last year …
Weaknesses: Level of competition will be a big hurdle, as the Southland Conference isn’t loaded with NBA prospects … Has little to no mean streak, literally gets out worked in match-ups where he has the physical advantage … Has become way too perimeter oriented to such a degree that opposing teams don’t have to worry about foul problems … Plays like a guard - spent this past season working on dribble moves instead of developing better back to the basket skills … Lacks the explosiveness and timing to become a great shot blocker on the next level … This also hurts him when trying to rebound out of his area and as a help defender … Doesn’t do a good job of getting his body wide in the post nor establishing position … Frustratingly inconsistent player who does not give the appearance of a legit NBA prospect every single night … Intensity level is extremely low to the point that you wonder how important the game seems to him off the court … Prone to mental breakdowns in crucial moments of a game … Despite the marked improvement of his foot speed, post footwork leaves a little to be desired … Has strayed a great deal from the post to the point that opposing teams in his conference don’t double team him like they have in the past … Lacks the basketball IQ and court awareness that many seniors in college possess …
